Industry = Small Business

Press Release Summary = The latest scam from online thieves is stealing hundreds of
thousands from unsuspecting people, and there\'s no end in sight.

Press Release Body = There\'s a new scam in town that is stealing money from the
poor, and law enforcement is helpless to stop it.

Hundreds of thousands of individuals are receiving an email
where they are told there is a safe way to make money online
with farexcorp, and tells them how they can test it by
spending $1.

When people go to try it, they are taken to what appears to
be an e-gold.com account, where they make their transfer.
But what really happens is they are taken to a phishing site
at jdscharity.com, which records their account information,
then automatically logs in to their account, and drains
everything into another account controlled by the criminals.
Instead of making money, individuals are losing everything.

The site continues to run, and e-gold has said there is
nothing they can do except put a hold on any suspect
account. The criminals understand this, and have set up
dozens of e-gold accounts to continue operations.

Police organizations are overwhelmed with online fraud, and
cannot respond in a timely manner to the thefts underway.

We remind everyone to be extremely careful online, and when
visiting financial sites online. Users must be sure to check
the correct URL is listed in the browsér\'s address bar
before providing any account information. The security
padlock should also be present, and you can click on it to
see the security information belogining to the site you are
visiting.

If you are a victim of online crime, be sure to file a
complaint with the IC3, at
https://complaint.ic3.gov/default.aspx

e-gold thefts can be emailed to them at
https://www.e-gold.com/acct/contactus.asp
Expect delays of 48 hours. No action will be taken,
other than putting a hold on already-drained accounts
held by the scammers. E-gold does take action if a court order is served.
